There are many things we can do to
help us stay young. From working out, to staying away
from the sun, from consuming things with the highest
antioxidant content to drinking a cup of green tea,
the following is a list of things that can help you
stay young....if even for a while: Know the Importance
of Antioxidants: One of the keys to staying young is
knowledge, and knowledge of antioxidants is a huge
step in the right direction. Antioxidants, in the
simplest terms, act like the police force of the human
body. They protect your cells from free radicals,
protecting them from damage in the process. Foods,
drinks, and supplements that have the highest
antioxidant content are one of your best bets at
staying young and staying healthy. Eat Right: Being
over weight ages us, both inside and out.
Extra pounds can add extra years.
From making us look older, to making us feel older,
from making our hearts work harder, to making our
joints feel years older than they actually are, being
overweight is a great way to trick people into
thinking we are years older than our birth certificate
attests. One of the best ways to keep off extra pounds
is to eat right. Eat fruits, eat vegetables, and eat
high fiber, low fat products. Eating things that have
the highest antioxidant value, such as blueberries and
olive oil, is also a great way to help ourselves stay
young a little bit longer. Take Care of Your Skin:
Just as consuming things with the highest antioxidants
helps us stay young, so does taking care of our skin.
This includes using eye cream and washing with proper
face care products, but it also includes wearing
sunscreen. Lots of sunscreen. Nothing ages our skin
faster than the sun, yet avoiding the sun altogether
is neither possible or healthy. Instead, avoid tanning
beds, wear sun lotion, and wear hats and long sleeve
clothing when out in heat for an extended part of
time.
A tanned body may look good in the
short run, but it will look old in the long. Drink
Green Tea:All over the world, people are getting on
the green tea band wagon. Green tea, a drink that
naturally has one of the highest antioxidant contents,
has been linked to everything from preventing cancer,
to preventing aging. Green tea contains polyphenols,
which have one goal: to fight disease and signs of
aging. Drinking just a cup or two a day can reduce
your risk for disease, obesity, and help elongate your
lifespan. Stay Active: Everyone knows that exercise is
good for us: it's recommended that we all work out a
minimum of three times a week. But, staying active is
more than just hitting the gym, it also involves
having fun. From keeping your mind nimble through
crossword puzzles to making plans with your friends
for a night on the town, from taking time to travel to
taking time to see your family, making plans and
staying active is like a lifestyle packed with the
highest antioxidant elements.
